Meme amnesty
May. 4th, 2012 08:37 amSince I discovered that x-posting from dreamwidth actually works, even though I don't have LJ access at work... I think I may try posting a little more now. :) For starters, I'm doing a meme-amnesty thing and revealing un-guessed favorite characters, as well as explaining why I liked whom. :)
1. SeaQuest - Jim Brody
--- Because nobody liked him, the other characters on the show thought he was vain and not too bright and he wasn't the viewers' favorite either. In some episodes they showed he actually had some depth and in addition a difficult childhood. The rest was my imagination.
2. Earth 2 (I knoe, nobody knows what it is... ETA: Oh! someone does? *GRIN*) - Alonzo Solace - almost guessed by
saphirablue
--- Again, he was considered a womanizer, but this time he had that special "gift". I've always had a thing for telepathy. Besides, at the very start of the series he got injured, how could I not like that? ;)
3. Battlestar Galactica (2003) - Lee "Apollo" Adama (guessed by
1orelei)
--- One word - depression. Or two -- suicidal depression. "I didn't want to make it back alive" is what got me. The rest was my imagination, because shows never dwelve on such things.
4. Firefly - Serenity (guessed by
1orelei)
What? Serenity is totally a character on this show! Well, the truth is, I liked all characters here, I couldn't pick up the favoritests, because they all had their moments. I liked them as a group and Serenity was what brought them together.
5. Farscape - Aeryn Sun ex-aequo with John Crichton (guessed by
1orelei)
I don't really ship, that's not what interests me most in shows/fanfic. I read and write shippy stories, but I'm usually focused on one character and his struggles, not on the romance. I never wrote or read Farscape fanfic and I'm not interested in it, but Aeryn and John are my ship. I think my one and only real ship. I love them together. Separately, I couldn't chose between them either, because John was so beautifully crazy it tug at a lot of my strings, and I loved everything about Claudia Black's portrayal of Aeryn, including her accent. Can't chose. :)
6. Stargate Atlantis - John (guessed by
1orelei and
saphirablue)
Oh, dear, John. Where do I start? Honestly, I don't know why I like him, but it's a love-in-progress, so a lot may yet happen here. I guess it's his tough outside demeanor, hiding profound vulnerability underneath. He's a loner, he doesn't trust people easily, that kind of stuff, I guess?
7. Stargate SG1 - Cam (guessed by
1orelei and
saphirablue)
--- Because he was played by John Crichton... Sorry, by Ben Browder. And other reasons... Injury, hello? ;) Seriously, a man was told he'd never walk again and he comes back to active duty? That's my thing. Too bad it was never addressed again and I had to imagine lasting effects of the injury, back pain, that kind of stuff... ;)
8. Hawaii Five-0 (2010) - Steve (guessed by
1orelei
finduilas_clln and
saphirablue)
It's partially the actor's fault. I like the subtle portrayal of character. I think Scott is a good actor too, but Danny is too extrovert character for me. I like them underplayed, restrained, like Lee Adama by Jamie Bamber. Steve is similar to Lee in that regard. Beside that, he's very intense, very driven. I like that too.
9. Supernatural - Dean (guessed by
1orelei
finduilas_clln and
saphirablue)
--- At first I thought it would be Sam, because he's more my style (or so I thought), but Jensen's performance simply blew be away. It's mostly about the actor in this case. As is -um- proven by the fact that I mostly read and wrote J2 (Jensen-centric) fanfics in this fandom.
10. Criminal Minds - Derek Morgan (guessed by
1orelei and
finduilas_clln)
--- He's got very dark past of which he never complains. And he's always there for his team members when they need help. Got interested in him in S5 (that's when I started watching and got through all earlier sesons), when Hotch asked him to be his fill-in team leader. It turned out he was a character considered to be vain and a womanizer, when in fact he's deeply damaged.
11. Dark Angel - Alec (guessed by
1orelei and
finduilas_clln)
--- That's simple - because he was played by Jensen Ackles (watched the second season after Supernatural, earlier, when I watched season one, I gave it up)
12. Game of Thrones - Daenerys ex aequo with Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister (guessed by
1orelei and
layne)
I'm mostly talking about books here, less about the show. They are the main characters of the novels for me and I see those three riding the dragons in the end. I like them because they're EPIC. That's all.
* ex aequo (from latin) means -- equally.
13. Horatio Hornblower - Archie (guessed by
finduilas_clln)
--- At first because he was played by Jamie Bamber (BSG Lee Adama). Then I loved him on his own accord, because he suffered so pretty...
14. Star Trek: Voyager - Tom Paris
--- Outsider, nobody liked him at first, then he proved that he was a valuable member of the crew. True, that later on, when he wasn't not-liked anymore, he was not as interesting, but I kept liking him. *sigh* It was so long ago...
15. E.R. - Carter (guessed by
finduilas_clln and
saphirablue)
--- I think I didn't have a favorite character on this show for a looong while. And then Carter got injured and had drug problem and... yeah.
16. Party of Five - Charlie
--- Because everyone thought he was a slacker and even his siblings didn't really respect him at first, but he really carried the family on his shoulders for the longest time. And he quit complaining about it fairly quickly and just sucked it up. To the point that it made him sick. Yeah, that was an important factor too. Plus, I really didn't like Bailey's guts.
17. Star Trek: Deep Space 9 - Kira Nerys (guessed by
1orelei)
--- Red head. I liked the actress's appearance, mostly. I was young. ;)
Thank you guys for playing with me, It was FUN! :)
