Hawaii on the Sun
May. 11th, 2012 11:44 amSpace Weather warns about imminent high-intensity solar flares, that may trigger planet-wide radio blackouts and long-lasting radiation storms. But also beautiful Auroras. :) In case you don't know -- they originate from low-temperature regions of intense magnetic activity, called sun-spots. Because of low temperature (low, ha! 3000-4500K), they are clearly visible against the surrounding hot (5500K+) matter.
